Don’t fall for Section 8 Scams!

Recently, there have been increasing reports of section 8 voucher scams. These scams mainly consist of promising a section 8 voucher in exchange for payment. Beware!

These section 8 scam artists are posing as government officials and even go so far as to set up fake application offices and having fake inspectors show up at your house. They then ask for “application fees” in cash, but the victims never receive their vouchers in return.

So make sure to only apply for section 8 from fully vetted government offices, and always ask for identification if any inspectors show up at your door. Also a good idea to avoid paying in cash if you can arrange it, or at a minimum make sure to get an official receipt for all monies paid.
